Well, it’s been a little while since my last week notes, but here we are, maybe I can start a trend of writing these most, if not every week.
Of course let’s start with the obvious, Happy New Year!!!. It’s officially 2026.
Now, onto the main stuff as for what I’ve done this week.
Reading
I haven’t done too much reading in the last week, but I am trying. Currently I am reading Foundation by Isaac Asimov, which I got for Christmas (last week). Let’s take a look at each day’s page count.
| Day | Pages Read |
|---|---|
| Monday | 4 |
| Tuesday | 19 |
| Wednesday | 11 |
| Thursday | 0 |
| Friday | 5 |
| Saturday | 0 |
As we came into the New year, my reading slowed down significantly, but I hope that it will pick up again soon.
Gaming
I have done quite a bit of gaming in the last week, I’ve done a lot of Minecraft, continuing work on my mini-mega base from my Minecraft Survival Series. I did a couple of mining sessions on a hunt for more diamonds and some more iron. I ended up leaving with a haul of 20 diamonds and nearly a stack of raw iron. I have moved my bed into The Stone Dome and started work on a little canteen opposite my bedroom. And have redone the domes of both the roof of the tower section and of the storage dome. I have since started work on a farm room - a tunnel, dark oak walls with a glass roof - in an arch shape. So far I have got the walls done and started with a plantation of potatoes.
I have also been enjoying flying in FlightGear as always. I did some nice flights - 1 in the Westland Lynx AH7 from RNAS Yeovilton around the military bases around Somerset, Wiltshire and then heading north to RAF Cosford. I did a further flight in the AW109 (flying in 3 of my livery creations - GZ100, G-MPAS, G-KRNO) from Ex-RAF Wyton flying west to the MAGPAS Air Ambulance base, then up north to the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance base at RAF Waddington. Where I then flew up north to RAF West Freugh in Scotland. Another flight I did was a 4 hour HEMS (air ambulance) shift out of the Redhill base of my local air ambulance charity, Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex flying my MAGPAS livery on the AW109GN where I flew 3 missions using the HEMSGen add-on with 2 casualty transfers to hospital and a flight to the foreward operating base of AAKSS at Rochester Airport to refuel the aircraft and take a rest before another shift tomorrow.
I have also done a touch of Stormworks: Build & Rescue and Flashing Lights.
Writing
For Christmas, I got a tablet bundle (with stylus and keyboard), which I asked for with the plan to do writing on it. And has it been a good idea. I have written my longest blosts on it. It has been great to be able to sit anywhere and write blosts or for my novel.
I had been working on a novel since I got this tablet but I didn’t think it was going anywhere, it was too close to another franchise, so I started another one, very much along the same lines as my NaNoWriMo novel from 2023, Lunar Voyager. This new novel is more realistic, and is set in the UK to start with. I’m very happy with the progress I’ve made so far. I’ve got a rough draft for a Prologue and am working on the first chapter. My plan is that the first few chapters would be the gathering of the team members, one member per chapter, I am really enjoying the process and am looking forward to where this one goes. I have tried many times to write novels but never successfully, hopefully this one does better.
Listening
I haven’t listened to anything this last week, but I am hoping to get into listening to podcasts on my tablet while writing, so this section should be a bit bigger next week.
Watching
I have been watching Star Trek: The Next Generation, on Netflix before it leaves on 8th January. I’m currently on Season 2 and have been enjoying it a lot, I do still prefer TOS though.
I have watched a couple of videos on YouTube, including the Hermitcraft 2025 Charity Stream Day 2 vod from back in the Summer, which has been fun so far.
Other Stuff
Other stuff, well not too much to report here this week, I have started planning a little FlightGear scenery project that I’m hoping to get started on soon but haven’t started it yet. I also started learning C with a couple of Fedifriends in the last couple of days of 2025, after using the first example in our text book to create a small hello world program, I haven’t touched it again but I do need to get back to it.
Conclusion
And that’s it for this week, I am hoping to keep this up throughout the year, but no promises, ok, so don’t hold me to it. I’ll probably start writing my week notes on Friday with the hopes of finishing them on Saturday. I hope that you enjoy these, and I’ll catch you in the next one. BYEEE!!!
