It’s been a busy year, full of ups and downs; full of great achievements and a few problems but overall a largely successful year. Lets take a look back over some of the best bits.
Blog & Website Stuff
A lot has happened over the last 365 days with my website and blog. I started off the year with my old Eleventy website and over time, I slowly moved over to my brand new Jekyll site. I have written quite a few blosts this year as well.
I switched to Jekyll in late June and started building my own CSS framework for my website inspired by Readable CSS, and with a few extra tweaks such as the nav bar and colour scheme.
Going back to the beginning of the year, the first blost I published was Happy New Year!!! Bring on 2025! on 1st January as a small note to kick off the year. I have had a busy year Of writing with a total of 77 blosts across both my sites.
On my original site (using Eleventy as my static site generator at the time) had a total of 28 blasts from 2025, some of which have been transferred over to my new Jekyll site, so there is a little crossover.
With about half the year on my new site and I have ended up writing 49 blog posts on the site. My most recent post being the one I published yesterday Android Writing - New Tablet, Keyboard and Pen (on which I am writing this blost), which was a fun one to write.
I have loved my writing on my blog and hopefully I’ll write a lot more in the coming year.
Video Content Creation
I have had a decent year on my video creation side. My channel has grown 100 subscribers this year, growing to a whopping 200 subscribers (a huge thank you to all who have subcribed this year and in years before).
I have got back into creating videos with a mix of FlightGear, Flashing Lights and Minecraft content being posted in the last year.
I have really been enjoying my most recent series, Minecraft Survival Series, which (at the time of writing) has 3 published episodes and one episode in the plans before the end of 2025. This has been such a fun little project to make, from getting back into Minecraft (which is going to be a blost of it’s own) after a good year or 2 gap since I last played it; to actually making progress on a relatively big build project in pretty early game.
I am hoping to continue with my Minecraft series and all my other content into the New Year and maybe beat Minecraft on video eventually 😀.
Art
I have not done much art this year but the art I have done, I have been extremely proud of. I created a small and simple HTML website which is hosted on my Neocities website where I am showing off all the art I’m doing. I have only done pixel art on this site at the moment but maybe one day this will expand into other mediums too.
Gaming
I have kind of touched on this in the Video Content Creation section, but there is more to my gaming than just making videos. I have bought quite a few games this year; Stormworks: Build and Rescue (and the Search and Destroy DLC), BeamNG Drive, Euro Truck Simulator 2, and Hollow Knight - which I have not made any videos on but I have been really enjoying playing them. I have spent hundreds of hours playing these games, and having tons of fun along the way.
Reading
I have had a great year of reading, I have gone above and beyond my goal for the year. A total of 10 books read out of my 5 book goal. I have done so well, compared with previous year and I am extremely happy with where I am and what I’ve achieved.
Podcasts
I haven’t listened to or watched many podcasts, I have been enjoying watching The Big Bang Theory, The Office US and Star Trek (Original Series and Next Gen) over the last year, more than listening to things. I am trying to get back into the podcasts I once enjoyed and have got a few episodes lined up to listen to while writing with my new tablet, as I mentioned in my last blost.
Conclusion
2025 has been a great year overall, with a lot of other great stuff outside of my personal and online life. At work I have found a rhythm for things, some staffing changes means new ways going forward which is great for me, and I got first aid training finally. All of these things will continue into 2026 and I hope that I will be sat here next year writing about all the great things in the coming year. Of course there have been some bad things, but I don’t particularly want to talk about them online so with that said, all these good things have happened and hopefully will continue, I think that’s it. Have a good rest of your timezone, and I’ll catch you in the next one. BYEEE!!!
