Switching to Debian

📕 281 words ⏳ 2 min.

Back at the beginning of July, I wrote a blost about me doing the 2 Year Linux Challenge using Arch Linux which I installed in April 2025. Well, I then made another blost titled 2 Year Linux Challenge - Where Am I Now? which as of now, has aged so poorly.

Last week, I was messing around with some things and I broke something that I really wanted to use. I tried to troubleshoot and get it all working again, but I was not successful. I had to reinstall to fix things, and as I already had a Debian 13 ISO on my USB drive from when I installed it on my testing laptop, I decided to just install that.

So as of 6 days ago, I am a Debian user. No more “I use Arch btw!” 🙁.

For my desktop environment, I decided to go with Gnome and I’m trying to have as Vanilla an experience as I can; with the only extension that I’ve installed being Dash to Dock as it’s something that I find really useful. Currently I’m running Gnome 48 as Debian 13 doesn’t yet have Gnome 49, which released a week or so ago.

So with me having reinstalled and changed my distro, I am going to restart my 2 Year Linux Challenge and hopefully get a few blosts out of my new Debian user experience and my fun messing with some things (hopefully not breaking anything). So 6 days and counting. I got to ~60 days with Arch, will I pass that on Debian? Who knows, only time will tell.

I hope you enjoyed this quick one, have a good one. BYEEE!!!
