Reading Success
Reading was a sore spot for me not too long ago, but now it’s a source of joy.
Just over a month ago, I wrote about my troubles and doubts with reading. Today I write about my new re-found (found again) love and appreciation for it.
On the 5th April, I decided to take a break from LOTR (Lord Of The Rings - Fellowship of the Ring to be specific) and I pickup up one of my newer books on my to-read pile. The Robot Series by Isaac Asimov has been on my to-read pile for nearly a year now (probably only like 6 months but feels longer), so I finally picked the first book up.
I, Robot is a collection of short stories about robots written by Asimov between 1940 and 1950. I was very surprised when I started reading it and I was engrossed by the stories, it took me 2, maybe 2 and 1/2 days to get half what through, and I managed to finish it in 6 days ( a new personal record). It was very thought provoking as well, leading to my brain starting to concoct a new short story/set of short stories involving robots (inspired by, not at all related to; except the Three Laws of Robotics, they are cool and thought provoking in their own right), as well as some ideas to further the story of A Race Against Time (my mini story series).
With this new found (again) reading power, I am already onto my second book that (at the time of writing this blost) I am 83 pages (40%) through which I only started yesterday.
I hope to be able to share my thoughts on both I, Robot and The Rest Of The Robots (the second book of short robotic stories by Asimov that I’m currently reading) soon enough, with a double review kinda thing. But, for the time being, I’m going to leave it at that, I apologise for the lack of blosts in the last month, I’ve been on a real relaxing hiatus from all things digital (a digital detox you might say). I am hoping to write some more soon. As I said, that’s where I’m leaving it today, have a good one and this martian wishes you the best.
