Importance of Digital Detox
Over the last month or so, I have been doing a kind of digital detox; trying to keep off social media as much as possible. It’s a wonderful feeling and I have gone from feeling all overwhelmed to feeling refreshed and happier than I was before. However, this got me thinking about the importance of having regular detoxes from things like internet socials.
Back on 26th February 2025, I tooted that I was going to take a couple of days break from the Fediverse and all my other socials. I took 24 hours completely off all socials, then I made a few returns over the next few days; on and off, only observing not interacting. I haven’t been fully active like I used to be back before my hiatus.
Things like mental health are often misunderstood or just not recognised full stop. It’s a big issue for many people. People often focus on physical health as health and forget about their mental wellbeing.
Social media causes a lot of stress and anxiety for a lot of people. And this leads to bigger problems. Sometimes it is just better to step back, take a break and reset your mind. And that’s what I’ve been doing for the past month or so; resetting my brain.
And that’s it for this blost, I’ll be back online and active on socials soon (I hope), but hopefully this inspires some of you to do the same. Take the time for yourself.
Have a good one and I’ll see you in the next one.
